Knit your own Wisps of Smoke Ring using these clearly-written instructions by knitwear designer Jackie E-S of HeartStrings FiberArts.
Wisps of Smoke combines the heavy drape of silk, the lightness and fluidity of lace, and the sparkle of beads. The stitch patterning imparts the feeling of softly wafting smoke in a light breeze intermingled with fleeting touches of flames.
The style of this smoke ring features a wide scallop-edged yoke that decreases gradually into a tube. This makes a versatile accessory that can be worn as a draped neckline, or with the tube pulled over the head as an elegant hood-type head covering.
Pattern includes tips for using yarn that has been pre-strung and plied with beads so that every bead will show to fullest effect.
Shown knitted in Tilli Tomas Plié 100% Natural Plied Silk color 3033 Atmosphere (50g/140 yds - 2 skeins) and Tilli Tomas Rock Star 100% Natural Spun Silk with Glass Beads color 3033 Atmosphere (100g/150 yds - 1 skein).
