Educational Information
Longer than Tyrannosaurus rex, Spinosaurus is perhaps the largest predatory dinosaur known to science. It is best known for the tall bony spines on its back and its long, crocodile-like jaws that may have been good for catching fish. The first and most complete fossil skeleton of this giant meat-eater ever found was discovered in an Egyptian oasis in 1912, and then shipped to a museum in Munich, Germany. Unfortunately, the skeleton was destroyed during a British bombing of Munich during World War II.
