Educational Information
Discovered in 1995, the massive Giganotosaurus was one of the largest meat-eating land animals that ever lived. It is a member of a group of primitive but gigantic predatory dinosaurs that lived throughout much of the world during the early and middle stages of the Cretaceous Period (the third and final period of the Age of Dinosaurs). A group of Giganotosaurus-like dinosaurs has been found fossilized together at a site in Argentina, suggesting that these huge meat-eaters may have hunted in packs.
