HABITAT: Native to forests and grasslands of Southeast Asia. They are also found in the jungle, but generally prefer open areas.
Smaller than their African cousins, elephants found in Asia have smaller, rounded ears and live up to 60 years. Their remarkably flexible trunk contains around 100,000 muscles allowing them to smell, breathe, trumpet, drink, and grab things. Female elephants give birth to a single young weighing about 220 pounds (100kg). ?????
