Meade Coronado 0.5 SolarMax 60 Solar Telescope - a larger diameter Solar Telescope for higher resolution observation of surface detail and prominences on the Sun in hydrogen-alpha (Ha) light. Portable, dedicated Solar Telescope for both visual observation and high quality imaging. This very high quality personal solar observatory features a 400mm focal length, f/6.6 focal ratio, sub 0.5 angstom bandwidth for superior contrast on surface detail and solar prominences, Sol Ranger solar viewfinder, clamshell mounting rings, 25mm CEMAX™ eyepiece and hard carry case. Includes dual external primary 60mm Etalon filters and BF10 secondary blocking filter/diagonal. 16.75" long, weight is 6 pounds. (Note: SM60T15 shown. Unit includes dual external etalons, not shown.) The extra diameter compared to a 40mm model greatly increases the resolution of detail on the surface and on the limb. The included Coronado TMax tuner gives you the ability to adjust for Doppler shifted light when switching between viewing the approaching and receeding limbs of the Sun. Yes, this telescope is that sensitive and precise and tuning does make a highly visible difference. Bino-viewers and most imaging equipment will come to focus, sometimes with the use of a Barlow.
