The snare wire for a 14" Slingerland snare drums utilizing the Slap Shot strainer (used from the late 1970s through the early 80s) has 20 strands, an overall length of 16", and a strand length of 15 1/4" (including the soldered area on each end-plate). Both end-plates have two 3/16" holes positioned 1 inch on center.
