The snare wire for a 14" Radio King snare drums utilizing the clam shell style strainer (used from the 1940s through the early 60s) has 16 strands, an overall length of 15 7/8", and a strand length of 15" (including the soldered area on each end-plate). Both end-plates have a 1/4" hole in the center for attachment of the wire to the strainer frame via a screw.
