 | | The heart of the Meade LXD-75 Series models is the German Equatorial mount. This sturdy mount features heavy-duty castings designed by Meade’s engineers expressly for and manufactured to standards required for high-performance observing and astrophotography. Accurate and precise, the RA and Dec axes move effortlessly on four stainless steel ball bearings and include high-precision worm gears for smooth tracking and slewing. For your convenience it also incorporates a built in illuminated Polar Alignment Viewfinder for quick, precise polar alignment. And of course all models include a heavy-duty, fully adjustable tripod with chromed steel legs for great stability.
Need more precision to find or image that challenging faint target? Use the Autostar's High-Precision Pointing function for even more precise pointing and put objects in the center of the field-of view. Need tracking precision? Use the Autostar's Periodic Error Correction and corrects periodic errors on the RA axis over the course of one or more training periods, thereby minimizing guiding corrections during long-exposure photography.
9-Speed Drive Controls From a rapid slew rate of 4.5°/sec. to 1x sidereal—it’s all controlled from the AutoStar controller. 3-Star Alignment Ensures precise alignment. It eliminates the need for a complicated optical/mechanical alignment process.
Choose the model to best suit your needs, from the economical and versatile 6" Newtonian to a terrific 6" Achromatic Refractor for the serious Lunar and planetary observer to the awesome deep sky capability of a 10" Schmidt-Newtonian. The LXD-75 series truly offers a scope for everyone.
