Theresa Williams, the BagLady
®, has written six pattern books enabling the beginner to create extraordinary beaded knitted bags in a relatively short amount of time while at the same time enabling the experienced knitter or beader to either create what she has designed or to use her patterns as solid starting points to experiment with and create their own unique designs.
Many of the patterns available to date have been either remakes of particular antiques (where the parts and/or supplies are no longer available) or the more tedious bead knitting approach which necessitates charting and individually stringing thousands of beads.
What with all of the demands on a woman's time these days, the BagLady
®,
thought that there had to be an easier way for someone to create beautiful bead knitted bags without using up the majority of a woman's precious creative time. To that end, all of her patterns use readily available materials (Czech glass seed beads on hanks, #8 perle cotton, and currently manufactured metal frames). Most of the bags require only the skill to perform a basic knit stitch with several of the bags requiring the skill to perform an increasing stitch as well.

The Beaded Bag Series was selected as a Finalist in the 1996 PJS Publications Product Excellence Awards. This selection was based largely upon the originality and quality of the designs, the clarity of the instructions, the use of readily available products, overall ease of use and photo/illustration quality and quantity.
The PJS Product Excellence Awards are sponsored by PJS Publications, publishers of Crafts Magazine, Craftrends, Creative Woman's Network, McCall's Needlework, Sew News, McCall's Quilting, Just Cross Stitch, and Update Newsletters.
